History

jands-logoFounded in 1986 by James Hammond Sr., J&S Tool, Inc has grown considerably since its early days as a small tool sharpening shop. With 25 years tool grinding experience and a commitment to excellence in his work, James solidified J&S as a family run business in 1992 by bringing his son into the company and incorporating into Jim & Shane (J&S) Saw & Tool Service, Inc. Over the years that followed, J&S expanded its in-house abilities and the industries it could assist by, among other things, becoming a distributor of the highest quality off-the-shelf tools.

In 2000, son Shane Hammond purchased the company and continued the pursuit of excellence and innovation. Purchasing multiple CNC’s and an array of other equipment, Shane advanced the company’s capabilities and began experimenting with custom tool grinding, developing prototypes and new products for the medical industry. By 2005, larger facilities were required to maintain the consistently growing company and its expanding customer base, leading J&S to move first to St. Peters, Missouri and again to O’Fallon, Missouri.
